  • Why Wythall.Info?
  • Some places are well served when it comes to online information and some are not - Wythall is one such place, rather than accept that fact the easiest solution was to launch Wythall.Info - written and run from the heart of Wythall for the residents and local businesses.
  • Whilst there are other sites in the area non concentrate on local issues in and around Wythall and whilst I accept there are many people who work in Solihull, Birmingham or Redditch the sites covering those areas do not cover Wythall. So if you would like to add editorial, comment on local issues or advertise please do get in touch.
  • The website is intended to be simple to navigate but capable of being expanded - so if there is a topic which is not covered and you feel should be then please put forward your views.
  • Broken links - if you find any please do let us know.
  • A website is never finished only published and so it is on the launch of this new venture there will be pages without content or much content - we will add more content and hopefully those who are interested will also add to the content.
  • Wythall.Info is brought to you by Charles Willcock aka I first became acquainted with the area back in the early 1980's and moved to Shawhurst Lane in 1992. Whilst I have no objection to the gentle expansion in housing and traffic I hope that the gentle growth of Wythall will not be at the expense of the green belt which makes Wythall the pleasant place it is.

Weatheroak Charity Challenge 2008

Weatheroak Lodge no. 7214 Wythall Park Community Centre (Silver Street, B47 6LZ)

12th July 2008

in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. We would like you to enter a team of 6 people to compete for the Weatheroak Charity Challenge Trophy. The day consists of an ‘It’s a Knock-out’ competition, 5 aside Football with a difference(!), side shows, bouncy castle, pig roast, a giant paella and much, much more.

This is our second year for the Challenge so there is already a defending team. As you can see from the photpgraphs pf last years event, it really was a great day with a lot of fun had by all.

This year we have a Medieval theme to the event so your team should consist of a Knight, a Maiden, a Jester and 3 squires. We are not bothered about gender so female knights and masculine maidens are welcome, but we would prefer teams to enter into the spirit of the event and come in fancy dress.

We like to keep the games a surprise for the day, but to give you an idea they could include, rescue the maiden from the dragon, milking the cow, knight on horse back tournament, storming the castle and so on. Each team will also be required to bring their own team flag mounted on an 8’ pole and a prize will be given for the most original design. You will need to set up your camp displaying your flag, so you may wish to bring along your own tent/ Gazebo. We will not be selling alcohol at the event, but we have no objections to teams bringing their own supplies.

There is a fee of £40.00 per team made payable to ‘Weatheroak Junior Cabinet’, this helps to cover our costs. There is no entrance fee to the event, so bring as many supporters as possible, since it really promises to be a great day. Team places are limited so early registration would be appreciated.

Outrage in Wythall at plans to close The Alex Maternity Unit

It seems impossible to believe that the NHS has got more money and yet needs to shut the Alex Maternity Unit.

Wythall.Info would like to hear your views!

Does asking mothers-to-be to travel 20 miles to Worcester makes sense?

How much will this move save? - (not very much Wythall.Info expects)

When literally tens of billons of pounds is being spent on a new IT infrastructure for the NHS does this not show that the Government has its priorities mixed up?

Please use the form below to let others know your views.

Not got a computer...

- Wythall Library has half a dozen connected to the internet and usually you should be able to get a seat in front of one - which you can use to add an entry.
